Washing Instructions

Hand knits should always be washed with care. As a general rule, the most important thing to remember is that the water should be cold.  I use Skeinz bases and they are second to none for quality and wearability.  They wash and wear extremely well.  Most of my yarns are able to go on a cold, gentle cycle in the washing machine.  I recommend using a delicates bag for woollens.  Occasionally with hand dyed yarns there may be a very  small amount of colour come out of the yarn for the first few washes, so it is recommended, especially for darker colours that they are washed separately, or with similar colours, and dried flat in the shade.  Soaking is not recommended.  Hand dyed yarn is best washed using hair shampoo and/or conditioner as some wool wash products can strip the dye.
